More and more, organizations looking to attract charitable donations are turning to game-centric livestreams to attract an audience willing to support a good cause. To that end, gaming peripheral company HyperX has announced that it is teaming up with eBay to host such an event this weekend, and bringing some star power with them in the process.
As they lay it out in the announcement, the HyperX Charity Stream will take place on Twitch this Saturday, December 14, and will air for five hours starting at 2:00 PM PST. The event will see such popular streamers as Pokimane, Valkyrae, Fedmyster, and DisguisedToast teaming up and competing in a number of games including Minecraft, League of Legends, and Overcooked 2. The goal here being to raise money for Gamers Outreach, a charity organization that provides children stuck in long-term hospital care with gaming kiosks and other gaming supplies to help make their time in the hospitals more pleasant.
Viewers will be able to contribute to Gamers Outreach through chat-based donations, as is the norm for Twitch-based charity livestreams like this. Additionally, from tomorrow, December 13, to December 18, HyperX and eBay will be hosting charity auctions on a number of exclusive HyperX products, consisting of autographed items and exclusive bundles. These bundles include:
