Got an itch for quirky video games but not a lot of cash? Humble has got you covered. The newest video game Humble Bundle packs in eight critically acclaimed “postmodern” video games for as little as $15. It really is as good as it sounds.
For $1, players will receive four games to dig into. First up is Beckett, a disturbingly beautiful game that will make players question everything about reality. Follow a detective investigating a missing person’s case in this point-and-click, single-player adventure. Though its gameplay is short, its story promises to stay with viewers long after the credits roll.
Next is Thomas Was Alone, a minimalist 2D platformer where players guide a series of rectangles through various obstacles. It tells the story of sentient AI’s exploring themes of friendship and adventure. Don’t be fooled by this simple premise - there are plenty of twists and turns in this story.
The third game on offer is Rusty Lake Hotel, a puzzle-escape game that takes place in a Twin Peaks-inspired setting. Welcome guests to the hotel and brace yourself for a suspenseful stay.
For the last of the $1 tier, players can enjoy Yume Nikki, a critically divisive RPG maker title. One of the most popular indie Japanese games, players can expect a dark and ominous 2D atmosphere with no dialogue or action. Players simply walk around the game - but can they unlock the secret ending?
Next up, those who are willing to pay just a little bit extra ($7.28 as of writing) will get three additional games: First up is YUMENIKKI -DREAM DIARY-. Explore the same setting and disturbing atmosphere as the original game but from a 3D perspective.
Then, buyers can check out the acclaimed The Stanley Parable. This first-person exploration game is all about choices and their consequences…or lack thereof. Play for five minutes, or forever and ever.
Finally, you’ll get the interactive simulation game Everything. Play as the Universe in this visually and narratively beautiful title, where everyone and everything is a playable character.
For players who want to pay the “lofty” price of $15 or more, they’ll be thrust into the love triangle that is Catherine Classic. Made by Atlus (developers of the popular Persona series), players will take control of Vincent as he tries to navigate his infidelity amid recurring nightmares.
Humble Bundle is an online retailer that supports charities and organizations through its profits. The site features great deals with their video gaming bundles - including the current “Humble Postmodern Bundle With Catherine Classic” with eight different games on Steam. Proceeds from this bundle go towards The Global Game Jam.
The Humble Postmodern Bundle is available until October 30. Don’t miss out on this awesome deal!
