HTC Vive Focus 3: Review

We used the HTC Vive Focus 3 for the last few weeks and were impressed with the performance, with the field of view being one thing that makes this device stand out among its competition. Twin screens help create clearer pictures, and downward-facing speakers provide better audio clarity than the Oculus Quest.

The wireless streaming capabilities and specs help this set stand out among the devices now crucial to the remote workforce. Because this device is easy to connect to a PC, it is likely to remain prominent in the remote workforce.

One of the things that we need to address is the Vive Focus’ enterprise-level limitations. The device uses the Vive Business Appstore rather than the HTC Viveport storefront, limiting the number of apps essential to a proper workflow. Users have access to an impressive games list should they use the set for more casual pursuits, like gaming. We found the performance more than adequate, but advise keeping the limitations in mind.

You prefer hardware touches that offer greater convenience.

This headset features soft padding more typical of headphones than VR devices for greater comfort, a four-light changing indicator for greater convenience, and easy cleaning, which have made the st stand out since its release date.

Don’t buy it if…

You’re looking for a budget product for VR.

With a price tag that has remained high well after the initial release date, this device isn’t the best choice for someone who needs something with simple specs.

You’re in the market for a robust gaming headset.

With a relatively small games list, despite its ability to connect to a PC, this headset lacks the types of features most coveted by serious gamers.
