Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is brimming with holiday cheer this winter season. Thanks to some fun holiday-themed maps, easter eggs, and game modes, Modern Warfare feels more festive than any entry in the series’ history. One of those new game modes is the newly added ‘Snowfight’ Gunfight variant.
This game mode was introduced in the 1.12 update and is exclusive to the updated Winter Docks map. The Snowfight game mode allows players to pick up snowballs scattered around the map to hurl at enemy players, and on very rare occasions, players can even find yellow snowballs that are one-hit kills.

How to Find Yellow Snowballs
Along with the many easter eggs that Infinity Ward has added to the Winter Docks map, like the creepy snowman that can be found, is the new Snowfight game mode. This is the only area that players are going to be able to play the Snowfight game mode where players pelt each other with snowballs to rack up points.
Grabbable snowballs are scattered all throughout the map for players to pick up as ammo. Players will find snowballs on surfaces like walls or the floor, and normal snowballs will be outlined with a bright white outline surrounding the actual snowball to make them easier to see. However, these special ‘yellow snowballs’ will be outlined in a vibrant yellow outline and will act as a one-hit kill towards any player.
The Snowfight Mode and Winter Docks
As many players will recognize, the Winter Docks map is an updated version of the base map called ‘Docks,’ with a holiday coat of paint added to almost every aspect of it. While Docks is a returning map from the original Modern Warfare released in 2007, many fans are hoping to see more of their favorite maps return from the entire Modern Warfare series, like Highrise and Favela. A recent reddit gained over 30,000 updates asking ‘Santa’ for four different classic maps to be brought to Modern Warfare after the holidays.
While fans will have to wait and see if those maps ever map a return in Modern Warfare, fans do know that Infinity Ward has continually updated and added different game modes to the game since launch. This December, Infinity Ward added a new Gunfight variant centering around a long-time winter tradition: Snowball fights. Of course, this Snowfight game mode has its own Call of Duty spin to it, as the snowballs players hurl at one another on the Winter Docks map are quite deadly.
Despite some outcries from fans of the game, Modern Warfare has quickly become the most played multiplayer title in the series’ history. This could be attributed to a myriad of different things, but Call of Duty has almost always performed and sold extremely well, especially in recent years. Hopefully, Infinity Ward will be able to keep this moment going into 2020.
