Destiny 2 players have certainly been getting a lot of story developments this year. Since its 2017 release, the guardians of Earth’s Last City have recovered the Light, the source of their powers, and defeated the antagonistic Cabal under Dominus Ghaul. Additionally, a constant stream of post-release content has seen guardians deal with other alien forces like the Vex and the remnants of the Cabal in the wake of the Red War. Besides the lore drops, however, players have also been receiving lots of easily earned loot, with plenty more to come in the game’s ninth season.

The newest season in Year 3 is fittingly titled Season of Dawn. This season focuses primary on the relationship between Osiris and Saint-14, two legendary guardians who carved their names into history, and the exploration of time-travel. In-game, players can assist in Osiris’ efforts on Mercury where he is putting finishing touches on the Sundial, a machine that facilitates time-travel. The rewards that can be obtained by playing through the initial quest line and subsequent Sundial activities are worth the small time commitment and effort compared to previous seasons. But right now, players can also obtain a free piece of Exotic armor on the Bungie website.

Claiming a Free Fated Engram

To start the process, players need to sign into Bungie and then go to the previous season’s link. This may also work on the app but logging onto the website is confirmed. Afterwards, players can then obtain any of the last season’s unclaimed rewards, but more importantly also reclaim the rank 98 Fated Engram a second time. Be aware that players had to reach Rank 98 last season in order for this to work.

Select the character that should receive the armor piece, click on the left arrow to move to Rank 98, mouse over the engram, and then click claim on the popup notification. Alternatively, players can scroll down to see their unclaimed items from the past season and obtain them that way. After being claimed, the item will appear in the character’s inventory or at the postmaster in-game.

Until this method is patched, claiming the Fated Engram from Bungie’s website is an easy way for veteran players in Destiny 2 to get the new exotics. In the end, even if it wasn’t intended, this free Exotic armor piece adds onto a season that shies away from the traditional power grind in favor of catch-up and accessibility for players.
