Unlocking all the camos and earning dark matter is a long, but rewarding journey. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is no different. You may have achieved, or be working towards, point blank kills and gaining some headshots. However, another camo challenge that has proved difficult is getting longshots. Although this challenge may be simpler with weapons categories such as assault rifles and tactical rifles, submachine guns are understandably trickier.

You are required to earn 50 longshot for the Black Ops Cold War submachine guns to unlock the geometric camos. Submachine guns are close range weapons, meaning their effectiveness is reduced at long range. Also, submachine guns such as the MP5 were hit with a nerf after the game was launched. Moreover, these weapons experience damage loss over distance, making the challenge even more difficult. However, there are a few ways in which you can maximize your chances of earning more submachine gun longshots.

First, you can take advantage of the gunsmith to make your submachine gun more effective at long range. Equipping the 10.6 Taskforce Barrel will increase your damage range and bullet velocity, for example. In addition, using a magnifying sight will help you achieve those longshot kills. Next, hopping into a hardcore playlist can make getting longshots easier. In the hardcore playlist, player health is lower. This is important for earning Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War submachine gun longshots, as it makes it easier to get an elimination at any range.

Long lines of sight equal Black Ops Cold War longshot kills

Finally, finding long lines of sight will set you up to be almost guaranteed a longshot kill. Various maps provide the long lines of sight you need. On the map Cartel, you can utilize the sniper tower, while Nuketown ’84 has long lines of sight at each spawn point. Once you have mastered the submachine gun longshots, you are one step closer to dark matter.
