Every Pokemon game features the Elite Four trainers, and Scarlet & Violet is no different. These are the toughest trainers in Paldea and you have to beat them consecutively to challenge the Champion. After beating Poppy, you will face the Normal-type Medali Gym Leader Larry again. But this time he will bring out his Flying-type Pokemon which are around level 59 – 60. If you are having trouble beating him then look no further. In this article, we will tell you how to defeat Larry of the Elite Four in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
How to Defeat Larry of the Elite Four in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Every one of Larry’s Pokemon in this battle is dual-type. So you will need to be careful with your selection of Pokemon and your strategy against him. Fortunately, after every battle, you can change the Pokemon in your Party. Here’s a list of Larry’s team and their weaknesses.
- Tropius (Lv. 59) – This is a Grass/Flying type with a weakness to Fire, Flying, Ice, Poison, and Rock-type moves. Ice-type moves do 4x damage so you can one-shot it with Ice-Beam.
- Staraptor (Lv. 59) – It’s a Normal/Flying type Pokemon that is weak against Electric, Ice, and Rock-type moves.
- Altaria (Lv. 59) – This is a Dragon/Flying type with a weakness to Fairy, Dragon, Ice, and Rock-type moves. Like Tropius, you can one-shot this Pokemon as well with an Ice-type move like Ice-Beam.
- Oricorio (Lv. 59) – This is an Electric/Flying type Pokemon. It is weak against Rock and Ice-type moves.
- Flamigo (Lv. 60) – This is Larry’s last Pokemon which is a Fighting/Flying dual type. However, it will Terastallize to Flying-type right away. This Pokemon is weak to Ice, Rock, and Electric-type moves.
As you must have noticed, Larry’s every Pokemon is weak against Ice-type moves. So a Dragonite who knows Ice-Beam can help you beat him easily. Using a strong Rock-type like Garganacl can also work. But be careful against Tropius and Flamigo since it is weak against Grass and Fighting-type moves. Another thing to keep in mind is to use Held Items on every Pokemon. Many trainers ignore it but they can highly impact the battle. Items like Quick Claw can allow you to attack first while Muscle Band can boost your Physical moves.
