Three Steps to Change Your Security Settings on Instagram
It’s important to note that not all platforms are the same. The following steps are designed for Android and iOS, not the web platform. In fact, the web platform doesn’t generally allow these types of settings changes, so make sure you are using your phone for this guide!
Step 1: Open Instagram and Tap the Profile Icon
Open Instagram and tap the profile icon in the bottom right corner. This will take you to your profile page, where you can control or access the important features that impact your account.

Step 2: Select the Profile Menu, Then Select “Settings”
Select the profile menu in the top right corner (the three horizontal lines known as a “hamburger menu”). Then select “Settings,” which is usually denoted by the gear icon next to the menu option. This will take you to the settings menu, where you can access different account settings, including the security page.
Step 3: Select the “Security” Page
Select the “Security” page. This is where you can access the security settings for your account, including options for two-factor authentication, login activity, and account recovery information.

Understanding Your Security Settings on Instagram (A Guide)
Password
The Password setting allows you to update the password for your Instagram account. This is an important security setting as it helps to protect your account from unauthorized access. When you change your password, make sure to use a strong, unique password that is not easily guessable. Avoid using personal information such as your name, birth date, or phone number in your password.
Login Activity
Your Login Activity allows you to review and manage the devices that have logged into your account. This feature shows you a list of all the devices that have logged into your account, along with the date and time of the last login. This way, you can see if there are any suspicious logins and take action if necessary.
Saved Login Info
Saved Login Info allows you to manage the devices that are saved to your account. It shows you a list of all the devices that have saved your login information, such as your username and password. This way you can see which devices have access to your account and remove any that you no longer use or don’t recognize.
Two-Factor Authentication
Turning on Two-Factor Authentication will add another layer of security to your account. When logging in, you will be required to enter a code that was sent to your phone or email. So even if another person has your password, they won’t be able to login to your account without the unique code. This makes it harder for hackers to gain unauthorized access to your account.
Emails from Instagram
The Emails from Instagram setting allows you to manage the types of emails you receive from Instagram, specifically regarding your account security.
Security Checkup
Security Checkup allows you to review and update your account’s security settings. This feature provides you with a quick overview of your account’s security status and recommendations for improving it.
Apps and Websites
Apps and Websites allows you to see which apps and websites are connected to your Instagram account. This feature shows you a list of all the apps and websites that have access to your account information, such as your photos and profile information. You can also remove any apps and websites that you no longer use or don’t recognize.
The Essentials
Changing your password, reviewing your login activity, managing saved login information, enabling two-factor authentication, managing emails from Instagram, doing a security checkup, and managing apps and websites connected to your account can all help to increase the security of your Instagram account. It’s important to regularly review your security settings and take action if you suspect any suspicious activity on your account.
Remember that keeping your account secure is an ongoing process and requires your attention and effort!
