How To Create an Email Signature in Gmail 

Let’s start with creating an email signature in Gmail. For that, you would need to power on your Windows or Mac PC and then follow the below steps:

Step 1: Open Gmail on Your PC

First, open the browser on your PC and type “mail.gmail.com” in the address bar to open Gmail.

Step 2: Open Settings

Now, find the Settings gear icon on your screen, typically present in the top-right-hand corner of Google Chrome. Click on it and select “See all Settings” from the menu.

Step 3: Find Signature in the General Tab

  • On the next screen, search for the “General” tab. Click on it and scroll down to find the “Signature” option.

Step 4: Create a Signature

The next step is to click on “+ Create New.” A popup will appear, asking you to enter the name of your new signature. You can opt for basic HTML formatting for your signature, i.e., italics or bold. Once you write it, click on create. 

Step 5: Adjust the Settings

Now, you will have to choose when you want your signature to appear in the emails. Navigate to “Signature Default” and select your desired option from the drop-down menus present below “FOR NEW EMAILS USE” and “ON REPLY/FORWARD USE.” Next, select “No Signature” or “My Signature.”

Step 6: Save Changes

Once you are happy with the changes, scroll down to the bottom and click on “Save Changes.” And that’s it; your signature is automatically added to the end of your emails in Gmail. 

How To Add a Signature in the Gmail App

You can also add an email signature through the Gmail app on your phone. It is comparatively easier and more convenient than doing it from the browser. Here is how to add a signature in the Gmail app:

Step 1: Open the Settings Menu in the App

Open the Gmail app on your iPhone or Android phone and tap on the “Menu.” It is represented by three lines on the top left corner of the screen. Scroll down and tap on “Settings.”

Step 2: Find Mobile Signature

On the next screen, scroll down to find the “Mobile Signature” option. Tap on it. 

Step 3: Type in Your Signature

Provide your signature in the popup box and tap on “OK.” Lastly, check how your mobile signature looks at the end of your emails. If it is too long, trim it a little.

How To Change a Signature in Gmail

Step 1: Click on Settings in Gmail

Open the Gmail app or the browser and log in to your Gmail account. Then, click on the “Settings” icon present in the top right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Select “See All Settings”

From the drop-down menu, click on “Select all settings.”

Step 3: Find the “Signature” Section

On the next screen, scroll down till you find the “Signature” section, mentioned as “Signature Default.” Click on it and make the changes in your signature.

How To Add an Image To an Email Signature

Adding images, such as a picture or logo, to your email signatures gives a personalized touch to your emails. Here is how you can add an image to your email signature:

Step 1: Find the “Insert Image” Option

Open the email text box and find the “Insert Image” option present at the bottom. Click on it. 

Step 2: Select the Image

On the next screen, click on “Upload” and then “Select a file from your device.” After that, find the image on your computer if you already have it saved. You can also add the URL of the image by selecting “Web Address (URL)” or link it to your Google Drive from the “My Drive” tab. 

Step 3: Save Changes

Once you’re satisfied, click “Save Changes” present at the bottom of the screen, and you’re done! Every time you write an email, the image signature will automatically appear at the end. 

How To Add an HTML Signature To Gmail

Gmail doesn’t offer any built-in feature to create or add an HTML signature in emails. But if you’re still willing to use an HTML signature, you can do it in a few steps. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you easily add an HTML signature to Gmail:

Step 1: Change the Signature Code in an HTML File

First, open Notepad on Windows or Apple TextEdit on Mac and change the signature code to an HTML file.

Step 2: Open the HTML File in Browser

Now, open the browser (preferably Chrome) on your computer. Then, click on File and then Open File. Choose the HTML file of your signature and open it.

Step 2: Copy the Signature

As the signature displays on the next screen, select the whole from your mouse, right-click on it, and select “Copy.” You can also press Ctrl-C on your Windows PC and Cmd-C on your Mac to copy the signature.

Step 3: Add the Signature To Gmail

The next step is to add the signature to Gmail. For that, go to “Settings” and click on “Signature.” Now, right-click and select “Paste” to paste your copied signature. Alternatively, press Ctrl-V on your Windows PC and Cmd-V on your Mac. 

Finally, click “Save Change” once you’re happy with how your signature looks at the end of the email. That’s it!

Note: This method may not work if you’re using the Gmail app to add an HTML signature. The Gmail app on your mobile can only add text via the Mobile Signature feature.
