The bosses in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope are no pushovers and they will put up a tough fight against your team. Each boss can present some tricky situations and the first boss is no exception. This guide is full of tips on how to beat the Giant Wildclaw in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and recruit Edge as a new party member.

Avoid a Giant Wildclaw Attack in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

In Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, the Giant Wildclaw will move differently than other enemy units you’ve previously encountered. After landing an attack on the Giant Wildclaw with your main weapon, it will move toward the attacking hero. If the Giant Wildclaw gets close enough to that hero, it will retaliate and land a hit on you that does massive damage to the hero.

With the Giant Wildclaw’s movement in mind, you’ll want to make sure you keep a distance so you can do damage without the risk of getting hit. Additionally, the Giant Wildclaw cannot move very far so if you can keep far away, you won’t have to worry about taking a hit. You must defeat the Giant Wildclaw to complete the level so you’ll need to position yourself well to do as much damage as possible.

Best Party to Fight the Giant Wildclaw in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

At the start of the battle, Edge will join your party to help you take down the Giant Wildclaw. She is required in the mission so you won’t be able to switch her out but she works really well for this one because of her long-range attack. In addition, her attack can damage multiple enemies at once making it a great option.

Ranged attackers like Luigi and Rabbid Peach are excellent options for this battle. Luigi is especially powerful at a distance and his Steely Stare ability will be able to attack moving enemies. Rabbid Peach offers healing abilities if you want to have a bit of a safety net in case the Giant Wildclaw gets too close and lands a hit. But, Luigi will be able to pull the Giant Wildclaw back by doing damage with Steely Stare.

We do not recommend using Rabbid Mario for this mission because his attacks are all close-range attacks. He will not be too effective in avoiding a hit due to the nature of his attacks. Peach, Mario, and Rabbid Luigi will work fine, so you can take some liberties with switching them in if you prefer their battle styles.

How to Defeat the Giant Wildclaw in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope

The best tactic to address the Giant Wildclaw is to spread out and put your characters on opposite sides of the boss. If you attack the boss from either side, you can keep it moving back to a central position where it won’t be able to reach your party.
