Just three days ago, some surprising news came to light about live streaming superstar Tyler “Ninja” Blevins. Specifically, it was revealed that Ninja will stream exclusively on Mixer moving forward, leaving his legendary channel on Twitch behind in the process. Indeed, Blevins broke subscriber count records during his years with Twitch, and some may now be wondering exactly how many subscribers Ninja has on Mixer.
As of Friday, August 2, which marked Blevins’ first cast ever on Microsoft’s live streaming platform, Ninja had over 500,000 subscribers on Mixer. This was confirmed by Blevins himself via a tweet that was made at the conclusion of the stream. Notably, Ninja had 100,000 subscribers on Mixer only five hours after the announcement that he would be switching platforms was made, an especially impressive feat considering he had not even streamed on Mixer once at that point.
While it is to be expected that many of Blevins’ fans would follow him to his new home on Mixer, these numbers are definitely staggering, At his peak on Twitch, Ninja had over 200,00 subscribers, and despite that count being enormous, it pales in comparison to Blevins’ 500,000 subscribers on Mixer. That said, there is a bit of a catch that has allowed Ninja to reach this astonishing figure.
Namely, Microsoft is currently offering free subscriptions to Ninja’s Mixer channel, and this is undoubtedly what has led to his massive sub count. However, it seems that this free subscription promotion will end when August comes to a close, which means that Ninja’s Mixer sub count will almost certainly fall by a significant amount in September. Still, Blevins is very likely to maintain a healthy base of subscribers into the foreseeable future.
For some, Twitch and Ninja are inextricable, and the announcement that he would be switching to Mixer may have seemed to come out of nowhere to many fans. The move has not prevented these fans from continuing to show their support for Blevins, though, as indicated by this exceptional sub count. Additionally, over 80,000 players tuned into Ninja’s first stream on Mixer, demonstrating that his appeal is not strictly tied to the platform he is casting on.
