Horizon Forbidden West is the most visually beautiful game you’re likely to play this year. Its open world is incredibly detailed, and the various components of machines have been meticulously crafted so you can literally point at them on your screen like Leo in that meme in amazement. All of the character models look near photorealistic, too, so chances are you’re going to want to take plenty of photos to remember your epic adventure by. Thankfully, Horizon Forbidden West’s photo mode is rather extensive and can help take a great screenshot to the next level with its wealth of options. So let’s dive right into them.

Using Photo Mode in Horizon Forbidden West

To use Photo Mode, press the Options button on your controller to access the pause menu and select ‘Photo Mode.’

This will then give you the ability to move the camera around to find the perfect angle. You can also change the time of day, the pose of Aloy and other characters, tweak saturation, brightness, and contrast levels, and apply filters.

All of these options can be accessed by pressing L1 & R1. We’ve listed all of the options available to you in Photo Mode below, so you know what you can do to edit and snap the perfect shot.

When you’re ready to take a screenshot, press X to hide the UI and then press the Share button on your PlayStation 4/5 controller. Take a screenshot as you would for any other game, and once it’s saved, you can exit out of photo mode and carry on playing.

Where to Find Your Photo Mode Captures

Any screenshots you take can be found in the ‘Capture Gallery’ of your console. This is the same place you’ll access all of your screenshots and gameplay recordings taken with the ‘Share’ button on your PS4/PS5 controller.
