Anticipation is high for Hogwarts Legacy, the upcoming RPG from Warner Bros set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter universe.

Though set almost a century before the adventures of the world’s most famous wizard, players are excited to find out what’s in store – and now we have a release date, that’s closer than ever.

Here then, is what you need to know about Hogwarts Legacy so far.

Hogwarts Legacy – release date and setting

Hogwarts Legacy has now been given an official release date by Warner Bros as of this past Friday. The game lands on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 & PC on February 10, 2023.

Warner Bros has also said the game will be heading to the Nintendo Switch. However, at the time of writing it hasn’t given an exact date for that version. Only to say it’ll be “revealed soon”.

You’ll play as a brand new student of the famous school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You’ll be sorted by the Sorting Hat into one of four houses, naturally. Then you’ll attend classes and learn all the skills to become a fully fledged wizard.

However, the game won’t just be all about the academic life. There’s a mystery to be solved you see, involving a conspiracy and something that threatens the entire wizarding world.

Hogwarts Legacy – characters and more

Alas, it looks unlikely that you’ll meet Harry, Hermione, Ron or any of the child characters we know and love from the series. That’s because the game will be set in the 1800s – so just a bit before their time.

That’s not to say there won’t be some recognisable faces though. Developers Avalanche have confirmed the presence of the ghostly Nearly Headless Nick, and there’ll definitely be “a Weasley or two” to meet too.

New characters will include Professor Figg, who teams up with you to help solve the mystery. We’ve also been introduced to evil goblin Ranrok, who’s forming a goblin rebellion with the help of the Dark Wizard Victor Rookwood.

You’ll have to scupper their plans if you want to survive the year. In doing so, you may just discover the secret behind a mysterious new power.

We’ll keep this hub up to date with all the new info on Hogwarts Legacy as we learn it.

Hogwarts Legacy – PlayStation exclusive quest

It’s come to light that PlayStation owners will get an “exclusive quest” when they play Hogwarts Legacy. The quest was first spotted by eagle-eyed fans on Twitter, noticing the wording on the PlayStation Store page for the game.

Naturally, questions arose – which were brought to the attention of the game’s community manager Chandler Wood. Wood confirmed the existence of both that and a special potion recipe via Twitter.

“PlayStation Players get an exclusive quest,” he said. “And PlayStation pre orders get the Felix Felicis potion recipe. We’ll have more information on those soon.”
